This province has the most important stone mines of Iran and has 89 travertine stone mines, which has the highest number of mines of this type of stone among the provinces of the country.

East Azerbaijan Province

This province produces more than 4,000 tons of construction stones every year, and the stones of its mines are of high quality and variety.

Marble, marble and granite are among the stones extracted from this province.Azarshahr is the most important and famous city of East Azarbaijan province in the building stone industry, which is famous in the world for having red travertines.

Azarshahr city has 40 active mines and in this sense it is considered one of the important stone production centers in the country, also red travertine stones in Sardar Abad mine of this city is the only red stone mining company in the world.

Lorestan province

This province has about a quarter of the country’s building stone resources, so it is considered one of the important provinces in Iran’s stone industries.

There are about 70 marble and porcelain mines in this province, and in this sense, it has the largest number of mines among the provinces of the country.

Fars province

About 15% of the extracted stones. In Fars province, it includes Chinese and marble stones.There are 398 active stone quarries in Fars province, which generally accounts for about 10% of the country’s stone quarries. Also, due to the quality of the stone it provides, this province has taken about 30% of the country’s construction stone exports.

Yazd province

The stones in the mines of this province are very diverse and most of them are related to granite, marble and porcelain mines.

About one million and 300 thousand tons of stone are extracted from. Iran’s mines every year, and Yazd province accounts for about a third of these productions in the field of construction stone extraction.

Central Province

This province has the largest number of active construction  with 64 travertine stone mines.Currently, Central Province supplies a significant part of the country’s travertine and is considered one of the most important stone mines in Iran.
